Student Information

Students registering for entrance exam

MHEP teaches a broad spectrum of Burmese youth, from many different backgrounds and ethnicities. The annual student demographic represents that of the current migrant community on the Thai-Burma Border. Each year we have a diverse group of Burman, Karen, Mon, Shan, Karenni and Chin students. Applicants to MHEP are required, at a minimum, to have completed Grade 10 in Migrant Schools (or a refugee camp), and to have an intermediate level of English. MHEP requires students to take entrance exams in English, Social Studies, Science and Mathematics. Students are interviewed by the MHEP Management Team and Academic Staff, who collectively decide on the admission of students. Students must have a strong commitment to empowering the people of Burma and their individual community, demonstrate maturity and have a strong awareness of themselves and their goals for the future. Students are not accepted if they are registered to be resettled to a third country, are under 18 (for scholarship purposes) or if they can access higher education independently.

Recruitment

Many of MHEP’s successes can be attributed to the high calibre of students it recruits each year.
